General Practice Assitant's

General Practice Assistants (GPAs) form part of a multi-disciplinary team within primary care, and provide a support role, carrying out administrative tasks, combined in some areas with basic clinical duties, helping to free up GPs time and contribute to the smooth running of appointments, improving patients experience in the surgery.  


Fareham and Portchester PCN employ 5 GPA’s. 2 based in Surgery and 3 predominately with our Home Visiting Service.  

The GPA’s day to day role is filled with tasks such as the below:  

Taking urgent blood tests from Housebound and Care home residents

Performing Blood pressure checks


New residents care home reviews

Personalised care and support plans

Post Hospital Discharges

Chronic disease monitoring
